Computer Diagnostics Software

When you have a computer that does not work, it is basically worthless.  It can be so frustrating to have a machine that you paid hundreds or thousands of dollars for that does not do what it is supposed to.  Whether the computer is slow or not working at all, it can not only be a huge annoyance to the owner, but also lead to a loss of money if the computer is used for business.  Since our society uses computers every day it is important to keep them in working order.  Something that can help keep a computer running like it should be is installing a computer diagnostics software to assess what is wrong with your machine and solutions to fix it.

Diagnostics software can sometimes bring a computer back from the dead.  A few reasons that you may need to run a diagnosis on your computer are: infection with a viruses, unknown download of spyware software, and when your computers hardware is not available to meet the demands that you put on it.

The biggest thing that a person can do to reduce the need for computer diagnostics is prevention.  By installing other programs like firewalls and antivirus software, you can protect your computer from getting these malicious programs.  Users of computers should be careful when they are online.  There are many sites that will put spyware or viruses on your computer when you click on links that are for other things.  A huge risk that has recently appeared is file sharing.  With file sharing people can piggyback a virus onto a legitimate program or file and when you download the file you also get the virus.  Another thing to watch out for are email attachments from people that you do not know.  Attachments are an easy way to transmit a virus onto your computer so you should always make sure that you trust the person that is sending you the emails.

If your computer already has a problem then you will definitely need computer diagnostics software.  This software can be downloaded from the internet or purchased at local computer stores.  If you need help a professional at your local computer repair shop will most definitely be able to help you install a computer diagnostics software and remove viruses and programs that you may have installed on your computer.  Diagnostics is an important part of owning a computer if you want your machine to continue to work properly.

Free Malware Protection

There are many free trial antivirus, free computer protection, and free malware protection programs available on the Internet for immediate download.  Some of the trial versions have full detection but limited removal capabilities.  Some of the commercial products perform too many system performance robbing background, web, and email scans that slow the computer causing frustration for the users.  However some of the free protection programs have been optimized for performance and are not limited for both detection and removal of both viruses and spyware.  AVG and Adaware by Lavasoft are two utilities that I run on all my computers.  They both have free excellent basic versions that do not expire.  AVG performs very well and provides automatic updates.  Adaware is also highly optimized and runs very fast.  If you have never run an anti spyware program you will be amazed by the number of adwares and spywares that you pickup on the Internet from browsing websites.  It is a good idea to clean off these hitchhikers from time to time and help your system performance.  Another good program to help prevent malware from invading your computer is the basic version of ZoneAlarm free firewall protection software.  This free basic version will provide both inbound and outbound protection.  Windows has always been very lax in security protection and when they did finally come out with a firewall with Windows XP service pack 2 they only implemented inbound protection.  The security community thought that this was very short sighted because you would never be alerted if you were compromised and your personal information was leaving your computer.  ZoneAlarm will also detect any changes in existing programs and block them from accessing the Internet without your permission.  This helps prevent infections of existing files and software being hijacked and used against you.  Also you need to develop a plan to quickly restore your computer operating system and safeguard your important data and files.  My favorite computer recover plan is to use imaging software that will quickly restore my computer to a known good configuration.  I have used the free Open Source software Partimage that is Linux based and I run it from a bootable Live CD.
